Doyle Reaction to UPMC Announcement

Press Release

Washington, DC - U.S. Reprsentative Mike Doyle (D-PA-18) released the following statement today in response to UPMC's announcement that patient access to the Hillman Cancer Center would remain available at in-network rates after the UPMC-Highmark consent agreement expires on June 30.

I was glad to see the announcements from UPMC over the last few days that reverse some of the unfair policies that would restrict access to critical care for people in our region. Seniors shouldn’t have to pay upfront for medical care, and no one should be denied access to the life-saving, cutting-edge cancer care that the Hillman Center provides.

These were positive steps in the right direction, and I hope that this can be a blue-print for cooperation between UPMC and Highmark going forward. I look forward to working with both parties to make sure that all Pittsburghers are taken care of.
