Doyle Attacks Trump’s Climate Decision

Press Release
Washington, DC – Congressman Doyle (D-PA-14) issued the following statement in response to President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement to address climate change.
“President Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement shows that he doesn’t understand the research on climate change and the impact it will have. It also demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of our country’s economy in the 21st Century – not to mention the dramatic improvement in environmental quality and the economic transformation underway in Pittsburgh.
“Times have changed, and so has Pittsburgh. Our air and water quality have improved dramatically, and Pittsburgh is becoming a leader in carbon-free energy sources and energy efficiency technologies. Pittsburgh is adapting to climate realities – and positioning our industries to provide good jobs to Pittsburghers by fighting the very real challenge of climate change.
“Today’s reversal on the Paris Agreement is foolhardy and incredibly disappointing. President Trump clearly doesn’t understand the Paris treaty – and he certainly doesn’t understand my district. By withdrawing from this non-binding agreement, we’re giving up our leadership on the issue and we won’t even have a seat at the table. I will continue to fight for policies that address climate change by creating good jobs for Pittsburghers.”
