April 20, 2009 - U.S. Representative Doyle presented Steph Goodrow from West Mifflin High School with the First Prize in the 2009 Congressional High School Art Competition for the 14th Congressional District of Pennsylvania. Her artwork, which was displayed in the United States Capitol for one year, is a chalk, pastel, and charcoal composition entitled "A Walk." Her work was selected out of a collection of 55 entries from 12 high schools in Pennsylvania’s 14th Congressional District.

April 20, 2009 - Chloe Weiss from Penn Hills High School was awarded the Second Prize in the 2009 Congressional High School Art Competition for the 14th Congressional District of Pennsylvania for her artwork, a colored pencil drawing entitled "Bullseye." Her drawing was displayed in Congressman Doyle's Washington, DC office for the following year.

March 26, 2009 – Congressman Doyle joined Congressman Tim Murphy, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis at the Community College of Allegheny County to talk about the potential that "green" jobs hold for America's future – and the need to provide Americans with the skills needed to take advantage of those jobs.

March 13, 2009 – Congressman Doyle took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the VA Healthcare Consolidation Building on University Drive in Pittsburgh.

January 23, 2009 – Congressman Doyle showed senior citizens how to hook digital converter boxes up to their analog television sets at the Forest Hills Senior Center.
