| September 9, 2005 - Congressman Doyle participates in the dedication ceremony for Phase I of the Nine Mile Run stream restoration project by planting a native shrub along the banks of the restoration area. Congressman Doyle has secured federal funding for this initiative and a number of other local water improvement efforts over the last ten years. |

13, 2005 -- Congressman Doyle hosted his
11th annual Congressional Arts Competition
and presented awards to the winners. Lindsay
Kilroy from Woodland Hills High School won
the First Prize for an acrylic painting
entitled "Self Portrait Reflection."
Lindsay's artwork will be displayed in the
United States Capitol for the next year.
The second place prize went to Nicole Oldham
from Penn Hills High School for her artwork
"Two Potatoes and a Yam." The
third place prize went to Lauren Heidingsfelder
from Woodland Hills High School for her
watercolor, "All American Art."
The fourth place prize went to Holly Cook
from Penn Hills High School for her colored
pencil entry entitled "Colonial Cottage."
The fifth place prize went to Lyndsay Haines
from Montour High School for her pencil
drawing entitled "Summer Garden."
The judges awarded 10 Honorable Mentions
to: Jaime Paolino (Gateway High School),
Eric Nash (Woodland Hills High School),
Demetra Rushè (Woodland Hills High
School), Heather Davis (West Mifflin High
School), Emily Conforti (Gateway High School),
Katherine Marron (Woodland Hills High School),
Grace Rajnovic (Pittsburgh High School for
the Creative and Performing Arts), Michael
Dengler (Pittsburgh High School for the
Creative and Performing Arts), Brittany
Farrel (Sto-Rox High School), and Joe Miller
(West Mifflin High School). There were 59
entries from 11 schools throughout the 14th
Congressional District. |

| May 6, 2005 - Congressman Doyle organized a free Glaucoma and vision screening at the Elder-Ado Senior Center in Pittsburgh’s Hilltop Community. check for $59,360 to the Ingram Volunteer
Fire Department. The federal funding from
the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance
to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program will
be used to buy new firefighting equipment. |
